There is a family story about 3 brothers married 3 sisters–I think 3 Mosca brothers married 3 sisters and my g-grandmother was one of the children of the Mosca brothers. Grazia has an Ellis Island registry of arriving in May 1907. I think Dominic was already in Waukegan, IL but can’t find his Ellis Island info. The lived in Waukegan the rest of their lives and (it appears) the US census has their last name changing from Sacremuto in 1920 to Sacramento (my mom’s maiden name) in 1930. I can’t find any records of their parents or lives in Misilmeri and would love to learn more about their heritage.

Her father’s name was Stefano Ippolito. Her mother’s name was either Maria or Anna Sciarabba.

SPALITTO Judy Miniace These are my grandfather’s name (Spalitto) and my grandmother’s maiden name. My grandfather came to Kansas City, Missouri, sometime in the late 1800s/early1900s. There are a lot of Spalitto’s in KC along with various grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. We have totally lost conatct and think that possibly the name Spalitto has been spelled incorrectly since they came to this country. My grandfather’s first name was Francesco.

Later he went to Lercara Friddi as a soldier and met his wife Leonardo Lombardo there. VANASCO Vincent John Vanasco, Jr. My grandfather came from Misilmeri. He was married to Katherine Randazzo. The surname of Vanasco is very rare I am told. He settled on the Lower East Side of NYC and moved to Bushwick section of Brooklyn. He had relatives in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. THey lived on Clermont Ave. There are many Vanasco’s in Buenos Aires, Argentina as well. The family had a coat business in Brooklyn, that my grandfather owned.

Her maternal grandparents were Gaetano Vasta (1817-1885 and Grazia Costa (1826-1885.) Curious if there was an accident that resulted in Gaetano and Grazia’s death, since they died the same year.
Giusepinna’s paternal grandparents were Luigi Bruno and Giuseppa Ranelli. have gone back one generation further,to Giuseppe Vasta and Giovanna Oliveri,parents of Gaetano Vasta.
