Highland, NY - Candace Mary Rizzo
Candace (Candy) Rizzo, age 59, passed away on Jan 20, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Kaplan Hospice House in Newburgh after "beating the odds", by living over two years with Glioblastoma Multiform Brain Cancer.
Candy was born Sept 7, 1952 and has been a life long resident of Highland, NY.
Candy always had that infectious smile and laugh and was loved by everyone.
On Feb.8, 1970, Candy married her best friend, the love of her life, her devoted husband Thomas J. Rizzo Sr. who survives at home. Candy and Tom were never apart during their 41 years of marriage. They built their lives with love, happiness, family, good friends, good times, good food and the fondest of memories.
Candy is also survived by her Mother, Wilma Sisco of Highland, NY and by her loving children and grandchildren; Renee and Jason O'Connor and their son Dylan, Lisa and Andre Spinelli and their daughters Sierra and Jadyn, TJ and his girlfriend Meghan Finley. All of Candy's children and grandchildren reside in Highland, close to their beloved Mom and "Mema."
She is also survived by her brothers and their wives; Bill and Leslie Sears of Kingwood, TX, Richard and Celina Sisco of Houston TX, Douglas and Ann Sisco of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; Michael and Mary Sisco of Raleigh, NC; Keith and Jeanine Sisco of Pine Plains, NY and Randy Sisco of Highland, NY and his girlfriend Laurie Boreman. She is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many friends. Candy was predeceased by her Father Francis (Frank) Sisco.
Growing up with six brothers, Candy was an avid sports fan. She was always a loyal supporter and spectator at games. Her brothers, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews could always spot her smiling and cheering them on. She loved life, the outdoors, the beach, auto shows, gardening and especially sun flowers.
Have you truly ever met someone who selflessly made every decision with the pure intent to make someone else happy or to fulfill their dreams? Yes, her name is Candace Rizzo. She is loved and admired; she will live forever in the hearts of those touched by her grace.
Viewing will be held at 9:30 followed by a service celebrating Candy's Life at 10:15 a.m., Jan. 26 at the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel,
185 Hudson View Drive ( Rt 9G/Violet ave. north; Entrance on left, follow Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel signs), Poughkeepsie, NY and burial at Lloyd Cemetery, 841 New Paltz Road, Highland, followed by a reception at the VFW 101 State Route 208 New Paltz, NY 12561 at 1:00.
